Anonymous: The content was very relevant, but the session would benefit from open acknowledgment and discussion of the power dynamics inherent in most of the proposed scenarios. For example - while removing an absent PI from a manuscript might be a logical solution, it is essentially impossible for any junior researcher to do that.

Anonymous: Overall great session. Would be nicer if the session included contact info for ombudsperson / research integrity office contact info, that might be useful for unresolvable authorship conflicts or to get advice related to authorship conflicts.

Anonymous: General description of the problem. Open but not clear cut solutions. Missing more detailed sort of problems and specially in our area and within the MGH-HMS umbrella. An idea would be to contribute with specific issues on different levels and analyze them.

Anonymous: I found most of the suggestions to be fairly generic (eg, try to avoid conflicts from the get-go, try to avoid working with mentors who do not support trainees' participation in papers). Practical advice, specific resources at MGH and HMS, and concrete examples would have been much more helpful. For instance, co-authors could be CC'ed on an email thread where a manuscript draft is circulated updated via Reply-All and updated using Track Changes. This creates an audit trail, accountability, and transparency about contribution to the writing of the manuscript.

Korilyn Z: One idea for the future could be to have participants send in their specific examples if anybody has a current / ongoing issue and to have the group work together on strategy. Could be anonymously submitted, as needed.

Anonymous: The content could have been better if concrete examples were given pertaining to actions one might take to deal with such authorship issues (e.g., what MGH office do we call if we needed to address ethical authorship issues or report a situation requiring investigation).
