Essentials of global health research administration

This session will discuss some of the particular issues related to managing and implementing research projects in a resource-limited setting. Working within the lifecycle of an award, from pre-award to close-out, we will focus on cross-cutting themes including institutional capacity, effective communication across cultures and financial management.

The goal of this session is to equip attendees with information and resources for developing and strengthening their global health research administration skill set while contributing to the capacity building of global health research partnerships.
• Jodi Ansel, Administrative Manager for Research and Contracts, MGH Global Health
• Kate Bell, MPH, Research Program Manager, MGH Global Health

Reviews

Anonymous: Interesting overview of award and site management processes. A bit of a crash course if you have limited experience in this area, but helpful to obtain an overview of the many components that go into research administration. The instructors were clearly experienced in the depth and breadth of their field.

Anonymous: Interesting course with relevance to many different types of studies. I would have liked to see more examples of what the group encountered (it was difficult to put the content in perspective with a case study on a fictional country) and expanded GDPR content.

Anonymous: Helpful overview of process and also brought up great points from their wealth of experience of things to look out for. Some anecdotes may help break up the material, sometimes felt we could read off the slide what they were discussing, but I'd love to hear more about examples of things they ran into. Overall very helpful though. Covered a lot of material.

Anonymous: A great class. It was just a lot of content. I'm still digesting it. Wish this class could be split up into two sessions but it was very informative.
