Course Description
This one session course is designed to guide clinical researchers who are interested in learning qualitative interviewing skills for individual interviews as well as focus groups. Topics may include: probing, asking open ended versus closed ended questions, maintaining interview length and pace, managing challenging participant behaviors, and non-judgmentality. This course is appropriate for all research staff who may engage in qualitative interviewing, including clinical research coordinators.

Anonymous: Great intro to this topic. Minor suggestion: perhaps it would help to present specific examples (e.g. of do's and don'ts beyond just listing them). Certainly a good advertisement for one-on-one consultations with the Qualitative Research team at DCR!

Anonymous: I really appreciate that this series is being offered, as well as the enthusiasm of the instructor. I do wish there were a 2.0 for more experienced researchers to deepen their skills and learn from the experience of others in the room as well. It seemed like a lot of people in the room had more extensive experience already, so a course that takes this to the next level would be helpful. For this and other courses, perhaps state in the description when it is a basic introductory overview (or whatever level it is) to target to the appropriate audience.

Darnell B: A good course. Could have been a bit more case based/concrete and more specific. Didn't make it through all the slides/presentation because there were a lot of questions, which was good as it showed a pretty interactive session with regards to Q's. Perhaps consider slightly longer, less course content or part 1 & 2 sessions.

Anonymous: Really helpful course, and definitely makes me feel more comfortable in doing qualitative interviews. Wish there was more discussion around training and who is qualified to do these interviews. It seems anyone can, but that makes me a bit nervous.
