REDCap: eConsent

Ended: Dec. 7, 2017

Speakers:
• Evan Dechambeau

Enterprise Research Infrastructure & Services (ERIS)

The REDCap eConsent project is a template that can be used by those who have approval from the IRB to collect the consent document requiring handwritten signatures for their study electronically. Currently, Partners HealthCare only recognizes using REDCap as a way to collect research consents in situations where someone from the study team is present with or has contacted the person being consented. Other uses will be considered on a case by case basis by the IRB.

Objectives:
1. Understand eConsent technical requirements
2. Learn how to program REDCap for electronic consent
3. Review use cases where REDCap eConsent may/may not be applied

Target audience: Researchers evaluating electronic consent options for research studies.

Registration is required. Please contact dcredu@partners.org with any questions.

Reviews

Susanne H: An excellent overview of REDCap's current capabilities, existing templates, and what we cannot do ... yet! Plus what's to come! Very informative.

Anonymous: The presentation should be more organized. Everything was going back and forth. I would suggest next time to start by showing how to start a new project, then how you would add the consent forms and all of the details about the consent process. Then show us how we could add a new template under the same project where there is no need to create a new project. Showing us the right way to do it would not create room for errors.
